Aha, I was wondering whether the CIS update would make this thread. I was surprised we've got all but the last 3 or 4 trains done before anyone commented. Who will be first to spot and write about the little typing error in one announcement... Well, I think there's just one. There was nothing stopping you from posting about the update! Also, please enlighten us regarding the typing error, bearing in mind some members hardly ever get to travel on the underground.

True enough. I'll reveal the typo in a day or so if no-one else writes about it. Gives a few folk a chance first! Clue: It's not a spelling mistake.

Nobody eagle eyed or fussy enough to spot it yet? Try a Circle line Outer Rail train and watch the messages approaching Liverpool St. Has to be a Circle train...

Still nobody? OK, it is quite minor. On Circle Outer Rail trips there is a missing space in front of TfL: "... Hammersmith & City line,TfLRail, London Overground and …"

Edit to add, just realised I missed a trick my not posting the above like this:

One hell of a pedant indeed Roy - and then I thought "Wait a minute, we're on DD, there'll be a few of them along any minute...."

Should 21051-21052 show "A" in the list or did Bombardier forget/not bother to fit ATC equipment?

The latest UNDERGROUND NEWS reports 21095/96 as long term stopped. Why and when was it last in service?

Hello all, I'm wondering if anybody can shed some light on the S7 stock that was stabled at West Ruislip last week attached to tanker wagons? A YouTuber had stated it had been there for a few days at least and I'm curious as to why it was there. I presume it's something ATO related?

Trains are still going and returning from Bombardier Derby for CBTC fitment, although that programme (started in August 2016) is almost over, with the last S8 about to return to London and just 4 S7s in London still not touched.

Why and when was it last in service? u21096 has returned to service as of last week and you are correct it was a very long term stopped unit, last time I saw the stopped days it was in the 700+ days. It went up to Derby for ATC mods and was there for a while (over a year) came back and various issues were found, then it had bits "borrowed" from it and by then loads of maintenance was way overdue.

As of Wed 15th May, the last S8 has returned from Derby with ATC mods, this ends the S8 modifications programme.

The current S7 list contradicts itself.
"1 train 21323/24 to remain as S7+1"
and
"currently at Bombardier for CBTC/engineering mods I and insersion of 25384 to be formed: formed: 21323-22323-25384-24323-24324-25324-22324-21324"
Is 21323 remaining S7+1 or not?

Is 21323 remaining S7+1 or not? It has been running around in London recently as an S7. It’s just returned to Derby for work to be done, when it returns to result will become clearer.

As of this week the last train has returned from ATC installation in Derby and for the first time ever, all 192 S stock trains are in London.

...for the first time ever, all 192 S stock trains are in London. In which case, the time has come for this thread to be locked. Thanks for all the various contributions over the last 9 years.

Just to finally clear-up the loose ends before we close: 21327/28 returned to Derby by rail as an S7+1, M2D car 25386 was removed, the train was fitted for CBTC and returned to London by rail as an S7 on 17 September 2018. M2D car 25386 was then taken by road to the LT Museum Depot site at Acton, arriving in August 2018. S7+1 21323/24 returned to Old Dalby 05/08/2018-14/08/2018, M2D car 25384 removed. 21323/24 was then returned to London by rail as an S7 WITHOUT being fitted for CBTC, arriving 1/09/2018. M2D car 25384 remains at Derby. S7 21323/24 was then returned to Derby by rail for CBTC fitment on 22/05/2019. M2D car 25386 was then returned to Derby from the LT Museum Depot site at Acton by road to be inserted into 21323/24. 21323/24 train was fitted for CBTC and then returned to London by rail as an S7+1, arriving 12/06/2019, for Metropolitan Line service making the 59 trains they were promised for CBTC. It is expected that M2D car 25386 will have it's de-icing equipment removed at some point and be renumbered M2 car 23328. S7 21551/52 was the last S Stock train to be sent back to Derby for CBTC fitment, departing London by rail on 24/05/2019, returning to London by rail fully fitted on 16/06/2019. Therefore, the total build for S Stock is: 191 trains, 1395 cars as initial order - split 58 S8 trains, 133 S7 trains. this was increased for provision of MLX Metropolitan Line Extension by one 7-car S7 train 21567/68 - 192 trains, 1402 cars split 58 S8, 134 S7. because of juggling the trains for engineering works, it was easier to construct two new M2 cars 23384 23386 to replace cars in other units. 192 trains, 1404 cars. because the Metropolitan was promised an extra train for CTBC, it was decided send an S7 to the Metropolitan, this required one of the extra cars. 192 trains, 1403 cars in service - split 59 S8, 133 S7, 1 car (25384) stored at Derby.
