Any idea what is going on with the refurbishment of the Victoria Line platforms at Green Park? They've been stuck in a half-done state for over a year now, with about a third of the platform walls painted in an ugly shade of grey instead of being retiled like the rest. Surely this can't be the finished article?

As for Brixton ... just how long has there been refurbishment work of one sort or another going on at that station?!

Green Park's half completed Victoria line platform tiling is because of the step-free access works currently being undertaken - the lift will have access from a new passage at the north end of the platforms.
The old tiling has been replaced with grey painted walls until this work is complete to avoid any damage and need to retile.

In that case, why did they bother retiling any of the Vic platforms? Surely it would have been cheaper to have done it all in one go?

Possibly to do with Green Parks step free programme being stepped up due to the Olympics.. it may not have been scheduled to come in until long after the refresh was complete.

Yes the refurbishment at brixton has been going on since 2000 aparently! Yep , the station building was rebuilt in 2001 and completed in 2004 . The station stayed as the photo below untill 2001 The Platforms however only started getting refurbished when the building was completed (2004). So technically , its been 5 years. Only 2 months ago, the ceiling covering the wires and stuff was installed in the ticket hall. And even that hasnt been completed. I live here you see

Seriously - how has the situation at Brixton been allowed to drag on as long as it has without major questions being asked?!

Well , I remember the Major problems were the escalators. They were troubkesome, as soon as one was fixed , the others fail and so on

It's not just the escalators though, is it? That station has been in a state for years now. The works there have been going on and on and on for the best part of a decade.

It looks like refurbishment work is finally starting on the remaining third of platforms, after a delay of 2 years. It also looks like the 1970s station signs that run across the platform (sorry, don't know the techincal name for them!) are being replaced. I always wondered why they didn't replace them at Bond Street when that station was refurbed and made all bathroom-esque.
