I've just noticed that " Live travel news" section of TfL website now also shows Overground and DLR disruptions on the same page with the Tube (and with interactive map). To those responsible: Well done!

With the London Overground there in place we won't see the infamous "there are currently no major disruptions" for a long time.

The former Southern stations of the East London Line are now showing as TfL stations in the Fare Finder.

That's not an error with TFL. That's an error with Internet Explorer 7/8.
I tried this with Firefox and it worked first time.
The other alternative is to refresh the page.
Internet Explorer 8 actually shut down and disabled the "Live Travel News" page because IE8 handles Flash/Java too slowly whereas on Firefox it worked instantly.
Remember IE8 is designed with compatibility in mind whereas Firefox was designed with performance in mind. Usually compatibility wins but in this case performance has won.

It undoubtedly applies to other browsers then...but the TFL website works fine on firefox 3.6.
back on topic I think it's a nice touch adding the DLR and the LO. The only annoyance I have with this is that there will always be some sort of closure and/or delay appearing on that map with so many lines.

They are stuck with precisely the same problem we have here , in other words how far do you split up categories? I agree that lumping all the LO stuff in one box is inconvenient for those that use it, but to put each line separately as with LU would make the page so big it would be a pain to use. On the forum we have kept DLR separate mainly because, historically, we only started LO to put the new ELL into, and indeed the old ELL board will go (to "historical") once the full new LO service is running. But we too will not be splitting LO further - our home page is already criticised by some as being too long, having a big scroll from top to bottom. But you can't please all the people all the time and it looks like TfL have actually thought about this one....

I suppose you can't please everyone!
A suggestion though...make the map dynamic so that if you are viewing the TFL Live Travel News on a computer with a high desktop resolution, the map auto-sizes to the width of your browser. I find the default size far too small.
From the looks of things the width of the map is limited to the width of the website, guess that would mean redesigning the page.

My understanding is that TfL (from the end of the month) will simply be a stakeholder in TubeLines, as opposed to absorbing them as they did with Metronet... so surely a part of the PPP contract still exists..? Not sure if I've just mis-understood what's going on, though!

The PPP was created under an Act of Parliament and only another Act can repeal it.
The former Metronet companies continue to trade as Subsidaries of TfL as LUL Nominee BCV/SSL Ltd. However, all the staff are employed by LU and are effectively seconded to the Nominee companies. Money still changes hands, though it's more or less academic.
Tube Lines will be (AFAIK) a wholly-owned subsidary of TfL and the employees will remain employed by Tube Lines. All that changes in this case is who owns the shares.

I'm very pleased to see the DLR on the performance indicator. It didn't seem to make sense to have it separate, seeing as it was on the tube map. Ditto the Overground!

The updated site can also show more than one status for each line. For example, it can show "part suspended" and "severe delays".

It also automatically zooms in to the affected part of the line when you click the line's name for explanation of the status. Nice!

I saw it on the overground once last week. It's annoying. Why don't they just leave it as it was and keep it like all of the other lines

What? More ambiguous than "Severe Delays / Minor Delays" etc. In another thread on here, I reveal part of the criteria for issuing the aforementioned messages. 1 cancellation on a tube line may mean a 3 minute wait. On a sub-surface line it may mean a 20 minute wait. Both fall into the category "Good Service." It takes 2 trains on the trot to be cancelled - so maybe a 6 minute gap on the tube or a 30 minute gap on sub-surface - to show "Minor Delays."
Saying that a line is "Disrupted" is one of a few much better ways I have seen being tried out, of telling people that the service is running, and much of it is running well, but be prepared for the odd gap or 3 along the way.
