The Class 378 order for the North London Line is a total of 57 units. By strange co-incidence one of the earlier generations of units which worked the North London Lines was the Class 501 units, of which 57 were built, the frames of these units were 57ft long and they were introduced from 1957 onwards and finally the Class 378’s have will eventually now all be 4-car units – yes another 57 coaches!
