I came across this RAIB report and as it took place on a line where Metropolitan Railway trains used to run I though that it might be of interest. It shows that however cunning signaling methods become, human beings will find a way to subvert them!

121020 is a single car DMU.

Easy-peasy. Cab at both ends, capable of multiple working (Blue Star?). TOPS class 121 IIRC. There were 16 built.

If we can have A 244/R 246^A, ODX 246^A/R 246^B, A 246^B/ROD 1, OD 1/ROD 2 then I'm going to have
A (7)88/R (7)90^A, NHX (7)90^A/R (7)90^B, A (7)90^B/RNH 1, NH 1/RNH 2 and hang the consequences!
