It would appear the low level passenger alarm handles are finally getting the long awaited covers.......spotted yesterday on unit 7076:

It's a good idea - is the cover spring loaded? I imagine them all flapping about when the train is moving...!
I always wondered why they didn't have a cover in the first place.

No, they're not spring loaded - if they were I wouldn't have got that second image!! ;D ;D The two black dots in the second image, level with top of the handle, are magnets to hold the cover shut - I wonder how long they'll last before some thieving scum bag vandalises them .....

That train has been going around with the low level covers for at least a month already.

That train has been going around with the low level covers for at least a month already. And this train was specifically noted in the daily service review about 2 weeks ago as having an "accidental" PEA operation by wandering hands !!! However I am certain it will reduce the number there of!

Rather ugly with those silver rivets and black paint. I hope it's not a steel plate to go chipped and rusty like the partial covers on Jubilee line PEAs. After longer in service on D78 is it proving to cut down 'nuisance' PEA actuation? Any more units done yet?

Travelling on a Picc Line train the other day, someone in my car pulled the PEA. Since there was not much to do for the next few minutes, I started wondering: Does the system in the cab show the Train Op which car has the alarm? Does the Train Op's PA response go to the whole train or only to the affected car?

Does the system in the cab show the Train Op which car has the alarm? Does the Train Op's PA response go to the whole train or only to the affected car? D Stock cabs do tell TOps what car the alarm has been activated, also there is an indication on the inside and outside the car concerned. If selected by the CIS the response would go only to that car, "driver aware" would be showing at the alarm point.
