Hey folks, can I use my Oyster card on the First Great Western line from Paddington to Acton Main Line? My google-fu is weak Basically I want to go on the line which runs just north of Wormwood Scrubs - on a streetmap it actually looks like you can go from North Acton to Westbourne Park but I know you can't! - so are there any other options, or is it only Acton ML to Paddington? Any ideas welcome! Thx.

That line is used by trains to Acton ML (Greenford trains),Ealing Broadway (W) and points West. It's also used by a couple of trains a day towards High Wycombe via the GW/GC Joint. The lines diverge by Old Oak Common. I've used my Freedom Pass many times, even on a HST as far as Ealing, but I know it's not the same thing. But having seen Acton ML at close quarters,I wouldn't worry too much......

The natoinal rail version www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/london/Oyster_PAYG_Map_240909.pdf is rather more up to date, not only showing the locations of the pink readers, but in not showing the Moordate-Farringdon branch Basically Great Western, Chiltern, C2C and the Overground allow PAYG on their entire Greater London networks. FCC and the GE lines only as far as their last interchange with the Underground (London Bridge/Elephant to W Hampstead, and also as far as Finsbury Park, Seven Sisters, Tottenham Hale, Walthamstow Central, Stratford, but NOT Wimbledon, or Upminster via Romford) Not valid at all on the former Southern Region except as noted above for FCC An Oyster-based Travelcard is of course valid throughout its zones of validity (although many of the barriers at Waterloo have their own ideas about that)
