Trying to find the answer to a question asked elsewhere, I have been unable to find a current definitive list of how the cars that comprise S stock trains will be numbered. There did exist a list, but later in that thread prjb said there had been some changes and he'd update us all when he had the file in front of him (he didn't do so in that thread, and if he did it elsewhere my search of the forum failed to find it).
The next thing I found was in the middle of the generic S stock thread discussion regarding de-icers, with the comment that the numbering system had changed since it was last discussed on the forum, but no details were given in that thread other than the new numbers of the deicer units.
I thought that a specifically titled separate thread would provide an easy place to find this information in future rather than on page whatever-it-is of the general thread.

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

Alright Chris you have caught me out, I completely forgot to post the final numbering scheme! So here it is in all its glory: S8 (D) starts: 21001DM-22001M1-23001M2-24001MS-24002MS-25002M2D-22002M1-21002DM S8 (non D) starts: 21057DM-22057M1-23057M2-24057MS-24058MS-23058M2-22058M1-21058DM S8 ends: 21115DM-22115M1-23115M2-24115MS-24116MS-23116M2-22116M1-21116DM S7 (D) starts: 21301DM-22301M1-24301MS-24302MS-25302M2D-22302M1-21302DM S7 (non D) starts: 21387DM-22387M1-24387MS-24388MS-23388M2-22388M1-21388DM S7 ends: 21565DM-22565M1-24565MS-24566MS-23566M2-22566M1-21566DM Apologies to everyone for not posting this sooner, I promised to do so ages ago and it just completely slipped my mind. I'm suprised someone didn't give me a kick earlier on this one! ;D

Probably should have explained in a bit more detail, the scheme changed for S7's as there was a clash with a mainline numbering scheme apparently. All the deicing cars are in the M2 position and start with a '25***' series. I haven't done the math but I am reliably informed that deicing units make up 37.1% of the fleet, not forgetting of course that every train is fitted with sleet brushes.
