Underground strike is called off A 24-hour strike planned for next week on a London Underground (LU) line has been called off. Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union on the Victoria Line were due to walk out next Monday in a row over workloads and rosters. The union claimed management had gone back on an agreement to reduce the number of return journeys a driver has to make in one day. LU welcomed the decision, saying the threatened strike was unnecessary. Chief Operating Officer, Howard Collins, said: "There was never any reason for his strike threat. No driver is being asked to work longer hours. RMT leader Bob Crow said: "RMT congratulates our members for their unity and resolve in this dispute which has enabled us to reach a negotiated settlement with the threat of imposition of new rosters lifted from over our members' heads."
