I saw a Vic line train in Ealing Bdy p7 today, it left then went to depot. What was it doing there? I wouldn't have thought one of these trains would fit into any platform at Ealing.. they are much longer than D Stock aren't they?

I thought the Victoria line trains couldn't run on any other line due to the ATO?

It may well be visiting the test track or such like. As for using Ealing Broadway, the logical route from the Victoria line is to access the Piccadilly line at Finsbury park, take the Picc up to Acton Town, then the District to Ealing where it can reverse and go to Ealing Common depot (as you observed). I'd imagine 8 cars of 67ts would be extremely tight, but don't forget individual D stock cars are longer than individual 67ts cars. I thought the Victoria line trains couldn't run on any other line due to the ATO? They can have trip cocks fitted and can be driven manually over conventional lines.

A 67ts 8 car set is about 11' longer then a 8 car R stock formation, very roughly.

There has been a 1967 tube stock train in that area earlier in the year, being used for friction tests on the South Ealing test tracks. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the train you saw at Ealing Bdy.

I have no idea what it was doing there, but it came over from the Vic line about 10ish this morning, ran to Ealing Broadway, then back to Ealing Common depot. Trains notice says it returns about 1430ish, IIRC.
