No idea? Perhaps the 321s will be on the line for a greater length of time and it is felt worth repainting them. Anyone been inside? I think they look very smart

LM are retaining 7 units (was 10 units for a while) to work peak hour services and the St. Albans' branch. Units 411-417 will be retained in the long term. So far 411 and 412 are in LM livery. Also, I'd wait until Monday before saying that Southern have returned to using 377s on the WCML services, they might now have enough for weekend services, but they need considerably more 377s around on weekdays (not more on the WCML, but more on the DC only commuter routes). Until nearly all the 377/5 units have been delivered, I'd expect the 350s to remain on loan, remember that the spare 321s are not necessarily due in service with their new owners until September or December, so LM retaining some to release 350s to Southern to release 377/2s to FCC is likely to be the last temporary cascade in action. The September timetable change is still over a month away.

Well the last 377/5 is meant to be delivered in November I found this message about the MKC-ECR services on the Saturday It's due to Selhurst depot being shut from 0900, the 350s restricted route availability meant they couldn't be used as they couldn't go anywhere south of the river at the end of the day! The 377/2s will end up at various locations tonight. There's another two all day Saturday blocks at Selhurst to come when the same thing will happen (5th and 12th of Sep I think). Ta I.K
Its happening again this week, Ta T.U

Just gone past FCC's depot at Hornsey and seen an ex-LM 321 cunningly disguised with First Capital Connect transfers on top of the old livery...

The final 377/5 is still on course for November but the 377/2 will return to service to Milton keynes way before that. Currently FCC have 3 377/2 for use and two more 377/5 to come. This should mean that by mid October all the 377/2 are returned to Southern.
The reason for 377/2 at the weekends being on the WCML is more to do with driver refreshing and keeping their route knowledge up than anything elese as they have still have five 350/1 at Selhurst when the 377/2 go up to Milton Keynes. And of course the blockages around Selhurst have meant Southern's relied on the 377/2 to be back on the service.
Only 5 units are required for the Milton Keynes route. When FCC borrowed 8 377/2 units, Southern borrowed five 350/1. FCC have now returned five 377/2 meaning they could use the 377/2 again on the service but are being cautious. It also gives them abit of slack across the whole of their fleet meaning failed trains don't always mean cancelled services.

Whilst agreeing with what you say, weekends are also the only time that there were/are enough 377/2s available for Southern to run the complete service. I've normally only seen them in use on the Sunday Watford Junction - Clapham Junction service. The Saturday service has still remained 350/1s most of the time (and it was today, the August Bank Holiday) But Southern have already returned the 375 units which they had on loan from South-Eastern, so they will be short until the complete 377/2 fleet is back from FCC. I would imagine that things will return to 'normal' at the mid-September timetable change (Monday 21st), even if there are no changes in actual train times.

Of the five units which went to FCC in March, two arrived too late for an overhaul and repaint and so have been running in Silverlink livery until the next batch arrive. FCC have all their 321s diagrammed for weekday use at the moment.

Saw a couple of LM 321s in new livery at Euston yesterday, very smart. In comparison the new NEXEA livery doesn't seem to suit the 321s.

Yep, Four LM 321's were taken off lease during August and are now at Eastleigh. All four will be refurbished, three going to Thameslink [FCC] and one to NXEA.

Considerably more than four LM 321s went off-lease during August, but many were stored at locations other than Eastleigh (many at Bletchley) awaiting space in works. Thameslink won't be getting any, the FCC ones are going to the Great Northern part of the franchise (they will be getting five more to add to the five that they already have) and NXEA will be getting seventeen units with three currently having no future home (originally C2C were getting ten, including the seven which LM are now retaining)

The 08.13 Milton Keynes - East Croydon was formed of 377 205 this morning, but the 08.38 Clapham Junction - Milton Keynes which we passed south of Wembley was formed of a single 350/1.
So it looks like there is now a mix of 350/1 and 377/2 units in use during the week, although I don't know whether this means that any 350s have been returned. There have been a few changes to the services formed of 321s this week; the 09.26 Tring to Euston was a 12 car 350 formation on Monday, but has been a 12 car 321 formation for much of the last six months.
