I was wondering i anyone knew what the new acceleration of the new S-Stock and 2009 stock will be? Also how does this compare to the trains they're replacing?
Also any info on the acceleration of existing stock that will remain in service for some time?

The new trains will accelerate hugely compared with the current trains. Perhaps we should have seat beats?

I can tell you that it pulls away very, very quickly and is faster than anything else that I have driven. It also stops incredibly well and is extremely smooth too. We will have to ramp the performance down to match existing stock performance when they are introduced though.

We have not left this aspect of the design to just 'hoping' (or any other for that matter). The motors have scondary retention to prevent this sort of occurance.

I think you meant to say that your contractor hasn't left this to just hoping. I would be very worried if the operational staff are getting too involved with the design phase having seen operators meddling in engineering decisions (admittedly not on this project) far too much recently.

I meant to say what I actually said. would be very worried if the operational staff are getting too involved with the design phase having seen operators meddling in engineering decisions (admittedly not on this project) far too much recently. I have been actively involved in every aspect of the design phase actually - from preliminary design, through to intermediate, and all the way to final design. The reason why operational staff have been so heavily involved in the design of this train is to prevent engineers (who like to think they are operators) from making decisions which end up leaving operational staff having to implement workarounds.
