I hope this hasn't been duplicated elsewhere, but not been succesful with search within forum.
I'd like to know when the stabling lamps were fitted to the 59TS driving vehicles - inboard of the headlamps. I'm building a model circa 1971 (based on the EFE product), and wondered whether they were fitted at this time.

Rather unhelpfully (for you) the info i have says "from 1970/71, at around the same time as de-icing equipment was fitted to the trailer cars."

I thought as much, but I thank you for your response. I guess leaving it off the model will date it as pre-70....... unless anyone knows otherwise.

I'm pretty certain, but can't categorically state, that a typical 1971 '59ts wouldn't have had a stabling light. I'm pretty sure I recall this happening after I finished training in 1973 - but age and memory...................!

I certainly recall doing the modifications on 62TS in Summer 1975, so would imagine 59TS was a similar time. I certainly recall doing them at Acton, but vaguely remember them possibly being done at running depots too, but couldn't be 100% certain on that. I do seem to recall the mods took place over a protracted period, so for modelling purposes you probably have a degree of flexibility! If doing 71 period then I suspect you don't need to bother (like me on my 62 TS layout), unless you want to model a "real" stabling lamp!!

I can't give an exact date but the 1959s (then on the Picc) were first followed by the 1962s on the Central.
