Week before last I was in the Acton works area on a training course in the buildings that back on to the two roads that lead from Acton Town station into the old works area [i.e. the two roads over the level crossing - 27 and 28 road numbers at the works end, including test track, assuming Quail is correct,]
Although it was Traffic Hours, the roads were under possession and there was some maintenance going on. PW bods were some serious lifting and packing, other PW bods doing fishplates and chairs maintenance and replacement, and while a further gang was weed clearing with ''strimmers''.
Is there something about to happen there ?
I did occur to me as I know ithere is nearby training done if what i saw was actually training not the real thing, but on asking no it was not, it was maintenance - but they knew no more than been instrcted to do it.
Ideas ?

the area was recently aquired back fom tubelines and now back in the hands of lul maintenance (ex metronet) there is a regular possession every 12 weeks to carry out signal maintenance so the p-way use this to there advantage and carry ou works themselves
