How 'original' are they? They weren't there when the line opened were they?? And I love the 'movie' effect of the pattern within the seat-back area. Scroll the pic up and down and you'll see what I mean....

How 'original' are they? They weren't there when the line opened were they?? Yes they were. That Green park image is one of a set on Flickr showing them all, but that particular design disappeared 30 years ago: see also the expanation on this website www.designassembly.org/2009/04/14/victoria-tiles/Brixton - a pile of bricks (apparently a ton of them!) Stockwell - apparently it's a swan, after the local hostelry Vauxhall - the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens Pimlico - abstract design represnting the sort of thing you might find at the Tate Gallery Victoria - Her Late Majesty Green Park - representing trees - the original abstract design was replaced by a more naturalistic version in 1978 to match the murals on the Jubilee Line but has now been restored Oxford Circus - a circle with four lines radiating from it, (in the colours of the three tube lines that meet there) Warren Street - a maze (or warren) Euston - the Doric Arch Kings Cross - five crowns in a cross-shape Highbury and Islington - the 14th Highbury Castle where Highbury fileds now is, (aka "Jack Straw's castle", but not to be confued with its namesake in Hampstead, although both are named after the leader of the Peasants Revolt) Finsbury Park - duelling pistols Seven Sisters - seven elm trees (or maybe can-can dancers?) Tottenham Hale - ferry over the River Lea Blackhorse Road - a black horse Walthamstow - it looks like flock wallpaper: apparently William Morris (the fine art one, not the Morris Minor one) was born in Walthamstow

looks nice, also think the white tiling looks better than that ghastly blue colour I hope the jubilee platforms keep the leaves though, that white and blue stripe stuff is getting closer to the jubilee platforms

The Oxford Circus one was apparently replaced by a different design, but it seems to have been restored to the old one.

The Oxford Circus one was apparently replaced by a different design, but it seems to have been restored to the old one. Yes - the original design was removed from the southbound platform in 1985, and replaced with a people/maze design to match that on the northbound. In turn, this was a combination of the designs that were being used on the Central and Bakerloo platforms - and that were in turn replaced with plain white a couple of years ago. At the same time the Victoria southbound was removed and replaced with a fax of the original. I think the northbound still has the maze pattern though? The fire of November 1984 had completely destroyed the northbound platform decoration, and when this was rebuilt it was with a simple panel lining, rather than the complex brick and tilework standard. Straying off topic now, but this means the Bakerloo platforms have had four different decorations in 45 years - Yerkes pattern, Victoria line gray, mosaic pattern, and now plain white.
