The photographs of the 1986 stock's interior display DMIs; another member on here also tells me that on a video, there is evidence of a DVA as well. Does anybody know or remember anything about the DVA/DMI system on these prototype trains? How come the DMIs were not used for 1992 stock? Cheers Alex

If my memory serves me right, it was proposed to have a line diagram in 1992 Tube Stock where the stations illuminated and went out after each particular station had been served. I think "cost" got in the way.
This system is alive and well on the Paris Métro on lines 3 (refurbished MF67) and line 2 (new MF01 - formerly MF2000). I think the refurbished RER MS61 trains on line A also has similar.

Ah didn't know that but to be honest I am not a fan of those line diagram light up things!
What about the DMIs themselves; they seemed to be just regular dot matrix fitted on either end of the car?

After viewing a DVD-video a fellow member kindly gave me, I have now seen footage of the 1986 stock in service with the DMI/DVA in use.
The DMI shots showed the destination displayed thus: "Destination West Hampstead"
The DVA sounded similar to Janet Mayo (but slightly higher pitch) and the recording heard states "This is West Hampstead where this train terminates. Change for British Rail North London Line and Midland lines"
