A while ago I heard (can't remember where) that the north end of the Victoria line will be closed for around two weeks to replace the crossover outside Walthamstow Central. This will obviously entail complete closure north of Seven Sisters, because of the lack of reversing points north of there.
Can anyone confirm this is still the plan, and if so when the closure will take place - I believe February 2010 was mentioned?
A supplementary question is what frequency of service can be operated on the remainder of the line with all trains reversing at Seven Sisters?

I've got a couple of Timetable notices covering that situation; I'll have a mooch through the library and post some details later. From memory, if there are too many trains to be comfortably accomodated below Seven Sisters there are a greater number of trains run to Northumberland Park, as ety rather than staff.

Trains would probably run to Northumberland Pk to reverse,it has 4 reception roads.

As an aside; I've got very few Victoria TTNs for research - if anyone has any I'd give them a welcome home. ;D

Having no knowledge of this whatsoever, would it really take 2 weeks of 24/7 work to replace a scissors crossover?

I think you'll find the scissors crossover would be part of the work; I'm sure there are other works for the Victoria Line Upgrade planned - signal equipment rooms being upgraded and other associated work that can only be done when there is an absolute possession - test runs of the 09TS under the new signalling system spring to mind as a possible.

IIRC the service was suspended Victoria - Brixton for a similar period during summer 2000 for renewal of the scissors at Brixton.

TTN 56/07 had reversing trains alternating between 62 and 63 roads, with 53 road for staff trains at 20" intervals and 52 road for depot starters and stablers. Each 20" period had trains for 62/63/62/63/53, with 8" given for reversal from platform 4 to 5.

TTNs; the beauty of the modern Vic working is that it is so (I hesitate to use the word predictable, as that isn't quite what I'm wanting to convey) <drums fingers> almost formulaic - although it wasn't always the case - there seems to be a distinct element of randomness throughout most of the '70s Christmas/Bank Holiday TTNs - there is the occasional one that doesn't quite fit the standard pattern but it doesn't make connections. I've checked the whole of the decade and network, most odd and part of the interest.

I hope this isn't the case; trains leave Walthamstow with people standing during the peaks!!! Imagine everyone trying to cram onto the National Express trains in the hope of avoiding a rail replacement bus.
Why February though? Surely a summer, when everyone's jetting off to somewhere sunny and not riding the Vic, is a better bet?

on one of the email groups I read there was suggestion that Christmas/New Year would be a better time to do it. However it does have to be done at some point and you can't please everyone

Boom, boom!
Thanks to all for all the info - presumably there are no thoughts of providing extras between the south end and King's Cross?
I remember that even with the low traffic levels of the early 80s a KX reverser would leave the NB platform there pretty busy, and suspect that doing so now and tipping out would probably cause more delays than running all trains Brixton to Seven Sisters.
