I have just come across an interesting reference in a 1955 Railway Magazine (Vol. 101, p. 587) to a spur at South Harrow between the (then) District Railway (Ealing and South Harrow Railway) and the new Great Central Railway link line which would have allowed District trains access to the High Wycombe line. Apparently the spur was never brought into use and the article is moot on whether track was ever laid. It was remarked that the formation was still visible (1955) and it still is today. It can be seen on Google maps HERE where the southern curved boundary is marked by the edges of the back gardens. Would make for some interesting destinations for LUL trains today!

That's the gasworks spur.
Others may be able to give closing details.

Just to add to what Hutch has said (I meant to post this earlier): chanelling Colin: South Harrow Gasworks - mackenzieblu has the answer! More success with this than trying to dig up the ghosts thread

Indeed South Harrow Gas Works siding - controlled from Rayners Lane cabin. Out of use end of traffic 3/4/54 and area decommissioned for start of traffic 29/7/56.
