A looks like a Sverdlov class cruiser with a couple of Turkish Navy Meko200TN class frigates tied up aft. Only one Sverdlov still exists and is preserved at Novorossiysk - So that could well be the location of that insert.
Rather interestingly, it also highlights an observation made in Ian Fleming's "Moonraker" novel that the Soviet Navy's ensign was remarkably similar at a distance to the Union Flag!

Regarding L30/L31 the two Hunslet 0-6-0T shunters that normally lurked around Lillie Bridge [from 1931-64ish]: Does anyone know of the existence of any imagery regarding cab interior details?

One obvious difference to common quiz puzzles is that these are all taken between stations whereas the quiz puzzle is usually a much more specific place.

Is the inset view in London? or should I be thinking of somewhere further afield?

Presumably A is the odd person out as that bit of railway was ex-LT&SR/Midland as opposed to the others which were Eastern Counties Rly/GE originally.

The background is not Udiapur as it isn't nearly big enough. The golden temple is definitely buddhist as the winged capitals/finials and Garuda statues [at the bottom of the cone on the RHS] are very much a feature of Indonesian and Thai/Cambodian buddhist shrines. The royal palace in Bangkok springs to mind.

It looks like a buddhist temple in the foreground with possibly the floating palace at Udiapur in the background. However, I'can't see an LT connection so I'm probably wrong!

The inset is what the tour guides describe as, "The crookedest street in the world" - It is in San Francisco. The building visible at the top right is the Mark Twain Hotel. The street is also known as Lombard Street.

Well Chris, the two areas on the Black Sea coastline that had major land conflicts between the Soviet union and the Axis powers were Kerch and Simferopol with especially nasty anti-partisan operations taking place so if I had to make an educated guess, I'd go for Simferopol as that is very close to the major port of Sevastapol.

Assuming that it wasn't one of the Baltic states and not somewhere well known like Leningrad, then I would guess that the port clue dropped by Rincew1nd would be a Black Sea port such as Odessa or even Sevastopol.

Another go then - I'm pretty sure it's not in the UK given the rather strange industrial framework in the background. Secondly, I've only ever seen these sorts of displays in the former Warsaw Pact countries [and Former Yugoslavia] - I think tanks on plinths are pretty much unknown in the UK. However, T34s were used pretty widely - so definitely somewhere in Eastern Europe.

Hmm the tank looks rather like a T34 - so possibly Potsdamer Platz/Russian WW2 memorial in the former [East] Berlin
