Kings Cross is the odd one out, and that is not unconnected to the answer I'm looking for but that isn't it.

No, it's about the trains that serve the stations, rather than the stations themselves

Kings Cross is currently served by 5 stocks - A, C, 1967, 1973 and 1995 (or 6 if you count the 1972 mk1s on the Vic). You're most of the way to the answer, but not quite there yet.

Is Kings Cross the only one to be served by the OLDEST and NEWEST LU passenger trains in operation ?

Post by happybunny on Nov 11, 2008 18:20:41 GMT
Or is Kings Cross the OLDEST station out of all four ? Or maybe because it is the only station that interchanges with other LUL lines ?

Neither is actually the answer we are looking for. Colin D was well on the right lines, but not quite close enough......

Kings Cross is the only station where it is possible for any of LUL's train stock to visit

Kings Cross is the only station where you can get to any station with a max of one change

Post by happybunny on Nov 11, 2008 19:13:06 GMT
Or maybe Kings Cross is the station where you can reach the furthest without leaving that particular station (i.e. Kings Cross you can reach Scotland but from Heathrow Southwark or Pimlico you cant get that far)

Is it because Kings Cross is the only station where first there was one line with Sub-Surface stock to serve it (Metropolitan) then there were two (Metropolitan and Circle) and then there were three (Met, Circle and H&C)??
Edit: Answer was worded badly

None of these are what we're looking for - it isn't about the size of trains, or how deep they run. It isn't about where trains run from the station, nor about how many changes are required to get elsewhere (although changes is sort of related to the answer) - indeed I think you can get from one LU station to any other LU station (with the possible exception of Kensington Olympia) with a maximum of 1 change.
Colin D is still the closest.

My stab at the answer.....Is King's Cross the only station through which all stocks are authorised to run? I think you can get from one LU station to any other LU station (with the possible exception of Kensington Olympia) with a maximum of 1 change. Or Chesham?

It isn't anything to do with non-LU trains, or where LU trains can and can't run. It's only to do with LU trains that call at the stations in normal passenger service

No, as I've said before it's not about where the trains run to or from nor about any stations other than Kings Cross, Heathrow T4, Southwark and Pimlico.

Kings Cross is the only one with more than two platforms? From Kings X Sub-surface platforms you can get trains to different destinations, and different kinds of trains.. but you cant from platforms at any of the other 3 stations

Read what I've written previously and it will be obvious which bit it is.

Kings Cross is the only one where trains can terminate? And go back the way they came Again, it is nothing to do with where the trains can go.
