Having worked set 107 during the morning it was due out afternoon peak and evening as set 106, with the depot stated intention that it will be split and reformed at Ealing Common overnight tonight. We shall see tomorrow if that has occurred. No it didn't!! Still 'double bubble' - and was running round as set 53. According to the temporary WTT (Richmond closure), set 53 starts from Upminster (on saturdays), and finishes at Ealing Common - so something went amiss with the grand plan ;D ;D ;D As it should have ended up at Ealing (sat night), maybe sunday will reveal all......

*I think* I saw 7508 poking out of the sheds at Ealing Common today (couldn't see the other end) - i'm guessing it's still a 'double bubble', so we'll have to wait till tomorow to see what appears...

It is. I saw it on Thursday at Turnham Green w/b. It's very odd to see red D78 cabs facing one another.

I can confirm that the Double Bubble refurb is no longer. Half of it was in service this evening as T124 - 7509 is now coupled to 7120. That means that Trains 14 & 15 have been split. The other half, 7528 is still in ECM depot on its own.

Came across 3 car unit 7528 attached very firmly to refurbed unit 7031 along the Wimbo branch (near Parson's Green) this evening - not in use, just parked to one side!!

May I just add that my pal, an Arnos Grove driver told me that when the 73TS was new Northfields depot tried to couple two Double-enders together and then uncouple them to see if it could be done. Coupled together fine apparently, but then the units decided to stay married and would not come apart! A crowbar or similar piece of heavy utility device was then used to split them!

It shouldn't be a problem coupling/uncoupling double enders, they use the same rotary coupling switch as an UNDM.Was probably a sluggish coupler valve.
