Have you noticed that some DLR trains have been running with white roundels instead of green/blue? The colours seem to be coming off. I think it looks better than the green and blue roundels. It makes it look like a bus!

It reminds me of the old red CO/CP stocks on the District back when I was very young... after their final refurbishment in the mid/late 70's Here's a photo of the white roundall on a DLR unit: cjw.fpic.co.uk/p44493406.htmlHere's an old CO/CP (taken in 1993) with the white roundall having almost disappeared: cjw.fpic.co.uk/p42921748.html

I remember reading somewhere once, about someone having an old unit (not sure which stock) on permanent display in their back garden, standing on rails! (Which I have been looking for ever since)

Isn't that at Quainton Road? Has that chap still got a 1959 Stock car in his garden?

The CO/CP stock photo was taken at the North Woolwich Railway society... sadly the photos were damaged by a water leak at my parents house and this is all that I could rescue At the time I was studying Building Surveying at the University of Greenwich and was in the area with a college course-mate as part of a project. The gate was open (not open to the public on the Wednesday we turned up) and I asked the most senior railway society member on-site if I could have a look at the old car (the gutted/burnt out 1900 Met car was close by). The last thing I heard was that the car is now at the Low Hall museum and has probably deteriorated further - a sad end to a rare car.
