It didn't affect me directly, but as you may be aware, there has been an Oyster fiasco over the weekend.
Anyone trying to travel early on Saturday may have been affected, but there are two different results.
Some will have been overcharged, and a few of those may need to top up a little. A refund will be coming.
Other cards have been disabled, and people with these cards are having them replaced either at origin or destination.
However, at least at small stations, like Colindale, the limited gate line means that a single member of staff is left trying to explain what to do to many people. This causes congestion at the gates for the unaffected people.
A short notice saying "If you see (some number), top up. A refund for Saturday will arrive automatically. If you see (other number), go to the ticket office." might help, but that would of course depend on people reading it.
Having said all that, I don't really see how it could have been organised better.

Apparently wherever large queues form, customers with disabled cards will be permitted to travel and sort the problem out at the next available opportunity. Extra staff have supposedly been drafted into help where possible. The trouble is that Monday is generally one of the busier days for the ticket office because people want to renew their weeklies.

They were sending people to "ticket office at destination" from Colindale this morning.

Does my beloved Hounslow West still use the Passimeter for weeklies on Mondays? When I commuted > 1981 they used both ticket office windows, and the Passimeter for weeklies only. One office window was for seasons + tickets, and the other for tickets only. Now you have the ticket machines as well just as you go in on the left, which seem so daunting to use!
