Where are you meant to touch out at Kings Cross when using Oyster PAYG on First Capital Connect from Finsbury Park? There aren't any along the platform like at London Bridge or at the entrance to the platforms like Euston. When I asked an FCC employee he directed me to the gate line toward platform 10 but turns out thats where you touch in so ended up with maximum cash fare.

Most FCC services come into platforms 9-11, which do have readers. The only thing I can suggest is taking it over to those gates, explain the problem to the member of staff, and see if they'll touch it out for you on an exit reader. Then write to someone and complain!

I guess if you're coming from 9-11 you're fine getting out, as it was these readers I touched but ended up touching in, thinking i'd touched out, but then came up against another set of gates to get to the street, so I thought that I was going to end up with maximum cash fare because it would think i'd touched out without touching in. My train came in to platform 7 but id never used the FCC between Finsbury and Kings X before but it's useful to know, thanks.

You need to go over to the gateline for the FCC platforms and ask staff to touch it out for you. It's a very stupid system TBH.

I've seen oystercards where payg entry at Finsbury Park only deducted £2. When I enquired as to why I was told it was so that FCC customers who's trains come in to platforms 7 and 8 aren't unfairly charged a maximum fare.
I don't know if it's just the Oyster validators that lead up to the FCC platforms at Finsbury Park that do this.

Roughly half way along platform 9, there is a little used cross passage to platform 8... unless this has been blocked off recently, there were two readers by the Station Supervisor's office door!
