1930 was a good year for LuL civils. Chiltern Court well known for 21 st century reunions was launched. 1000 pounds a year for the top end appartment above the pub restaurant! 55 Broadway also featured that year. More from the archive.

I see you could rent a flat at Chiltern Court in a price range of £250 to £1,000 a year.....I wonder what that works out at todays money. I see it includes rates, taxes, heating and water. I wish I could rent a flat with all that in!!!!!!

There's a bachelor flat on offer for £750pw at the moment. Kinda of puts it in perspective. About £39,000 a year to rent it.........I imagine 1930 prices worked out even more.

Using the Retail Price index on this site, the value of £1000 (1930) is £45,321.59 (2008). That make the top end rent at £3776.80 per month ! The bachelor flat at £944.20 per month would hurt but I suppose it is London!

It was mentioned in another old thread that the Metropolitan Railway coat of arms on the ceiling of the Met Bar are authentic.
