Is a Zone 1-6 Travelcard (not Oystercard) valid on Chiltern Railways between Marylebone and Harrow-on-the-Hill? (Don't worry if no-one knows offhand, I can ask at Marylebone.)

You mention the Oystercard Sophie.....as long as you alight at an LU station (Harrow, Ricky, Chorleywood, Chalfont, Amersham) pay as you go is also valid from Marylebone. This is how LU staff can use staff passes on the route. Same goes for Chiltern between Marylebone and South/West Ruislip.

Everyone tells me I should get an Oystercard but they seem really complicated. I'd rather stick with tickets for now because I understand them. It sounds like you can touch out in the wrong way and either not be charged at all or be overcharged.

as long as you remember to touch in when you start your journey amd touch out when you leave the station you *should* be fine. It is always worth checking your journey history though as the system does get things wrong from time to time and you can be overcharged. If you are you phone the helpline, tell them your oyster card number and what went wrong and they will fix it. Paper tickets are significantly more expensive than an oyster, but if you don't go out of the zones your paper ticket is valid for, they go wrong less often
