Four places to identify today. They all have something in common bar one. You may want to work as a team, or solo if you think you can spot it. For ease, the pictures are named A, B, C and D. *Click any image for a larger version*

A = Kings Cross. Best I can do! Yep A is Kings Cross and I can't help wondering if C & D are also Kings Cross but B has me wondering so my thinking is A,C & D have Kings Cross in common although having said that A could be the odd one out being tube whereas BCD are in cut and cover land! Of course C might be Mansion House but the last time I was there was just after the station was remodelled and that must be nearly 20 years ago but that corridor looks very familiar. Actually the more I look the more I feel that B C & D are on the District whereas A is on the Picc in which case B would be Acton Town D looks familiar but I just can't put a name to the location!

Is D between Shoreditch and Whitechapel? Those rusty rails look suggestive (unless it's a trick of the light).
No idea about B or C, unless B is Stratford or Finchley Road?

I think B is Mile End eastbound.

I'd say C is Bank somewhere looking at the tiles, A is definitely The Cross, D is Whitechapel, not sure where B is.

Isn't D Whitechapel and the siding that we see from time to time on Quizzes?

I think adw is right on B, with remnants of that lovely blue and yellow hoarding... Is the link cross platform interchange?

B is definately Mile End. D is definately Whitechapel 25rd.
A looks like Kings Cross and C has a Bank/Monument look about it. Can't be too sure about either though.

A is King's Cross, D is Whitechapel.
I agree C looks like the Bank/Monument complex.

I agree B def looks like the platform interchange between the District and Central at Mile End.

My thinking sums up what we have so far I suspect (I decided on my answers before reading the thread):
A - no idea.......I'll leave that to others B - Mile End C - Monument D - Whitechapel
Meaning the District is the link for the three in common...

King's Cross has never ever been served by the District Line proper (not counting the innumerable permutations before WWII). Does that make it the odd one out? Or is it the fact that it is the only deep-level station in the photo set?

All the locations have been identified, however the link remains without a correct answer. The guesses thus far may be correct, however they are not what we are looking for. Station A: King's Cross St Pancrass - partial roundel on Piccadilly Line (I think) platform wall Station B: Mile End - east end of eastbound District Line [Chris M] Station C: Bank - passage to lifts from DLR interchange passage [Chris M] Station D: Whitechapel - platform 4 facing east. *Click any picture for a larger version*

Whitechapel sees only surface stock, while the others see both surface and tube stock?

...although Whitechapel DID see SSL and tube stock in the past?
I refer of course to the 1938 EHO units on the ELL.
The OOO is that Whitechapel was previously served by both SSL and tube stock, whereas the others are currently so served?

While that is true, it isn't the answer I'm looking for

Could be miles away, but is it to do with new interchanges? Eurostar at Kings Cross, Crossrail and the privatised ELL at Whitechapel and the (newish) DLR at Bank... With Mile End being the odd one out with nothing planned.

Good idea (and I'll keep it in mind for a future question!) but not the answer I'm after.

Mile End is the odd one out - it's the only one with cross-platform interchange between SSL and tube trains. All the others lack cross-platform interchange with anything at all.

Mile End is the only one that's not a reversing point (on any of the lines its served by)

Good thinking, but that's not the answer. Think more geographically.

Mile End is the furthest east? Again, this may be true, but not the answer Chris requires. "A to B" is the best clue I can give..... I think!

Bank's the odd one out because the others you can travel between on the Hammersmith and City line.

C stock serves them all except Bank. (Especially now they've closed the interchange)
