The Japanese railways are notoriously strict about delays. I heard somewhere that on the Shinkansen, a delay of more than a mere SEVEN SECONDS results in an enquiry. I really do feel sorry for the drivers, and frankly I fail to see the point of a union if they don't take action against completely disgraceful treatment of drivers. As for JR west, I would like to find those responsible for this mistreatment hanging as well. The whole thing makes me utterly furious .
