To start with I think Airwaves cost around £300+ each and they're still going missing from DMTs' offices

Got us (Mets) to stop at Wilesden Green, north and south. This begs the question as to why are not air-wave radios kept at every single station in Zone-A? All it would take is 10 radios at each station just for these types of emergencies. Do you mean zone 1? Airwaves will only work above ground (at the moment). LUL's ones piggy back onto the MetPol bands |

Indeed - and the BBC's lead story on the subject contained a photo showing the Chancery Lane derailment train, dressed up as the recent Jubilee Line problem. I put in a complaint that this was misleading and painting yesterday's issue to be worse than it was, and interestingly the picture got changed PDQ! But this is what we have come to expect from a broadcasting corporation which is nowadays little better than the tabloids. Yeah because the BBC are train nerds like us  Is it possible that nobody had given the BBC a picture yet so they used one they already owned the rights to? Saving license fee payers money > annoying LU workers/fanatics and I'm inclined to agree. |

Alternatively they could have headed over to Wikimedia Commons and used one of the freely licensed images there.

There's a difference between using any old picture of a train to illustrate a railway story, and using a very specific photo showing a train which has clearly been involved in an accident, with accident investigators present and bits of damage train littering the surrounding area. That is clearly misrepresentation, and if the BBC could not find a suitable picture then they should not have used one at all. As for train nerds, you may speak for yourself, however for those of us who work for LUL, these episodes contribute to making our job more difficult than it needs to be. |

They have used other pictures before and could have used them. IE they have a picture of the 67TS and 09TS next to each other than they tend to use for Metronet related stories. Seems the Chancery Lane picture is now the standard "big problem" picture the BBC will use.
