Suspended North Greenwich-Stratford 21:00 major fire just west of SMD.Looks like being suspended to COT with doubts about opening on time Sunday morning.2 trains stabling at Greenwich,2 at Charing Cross and trying to fit the rest in Neasden.

Indeed, the controller called it a "major fire" on the train radio.
Despite reversing capacity being restricted to a single platform at NOG, the service wasnt too bad.

Service suspended from SOT.Wall and building will have to be demolished with hoarding erected to protect railway, watch this space.BTW SMD ended up -10 on stock balance last night, looks like Neasden was crowded!!

From the TFL website, at 06.15:
JUBILEE LINE: On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September, suspended between Wembley Park and Stanmore due to planned engineering works.
and
JUBILEE LINE: Suspended westbound from Stratford to Wembley Park and eastbound from North Greenwich to Stratford due to a fire alert outside West Ham station.
So, that means currently, there is no w/b svce on the whole line!

Suspension now lifted to just North Greenwich to Stratford in both directions. Severe delays on rest of line.

The District Line is still stopping at West Ham, right?

If stepping back is in place at NOG, then theoretically the usual Sunday frequency could be maintained reversing in one platform/track.

So, that means currently, there is no w/b svce on the whole line! The clue there is the time of day. At that time of a Sunday morning the entire westbound service would normally be provided by trains starting from Stratford Market Depot. Under the circumstances the westbound service cannot start until the eastbound trains starting from Neasden Depot reach North Greenwich in sufficient numbers to provide a reasonable level of service.

I bet the drivers are getting out of loads of work, especially if this carries on tomorrow.. why couldn't anything like this have happened when I worked on that line *sigh*

Are all trains reversing in the middle? Or are they getting some to do the long shunt if there is already a train in the middle and another approaching?

Well I was at work from when it started to about 2230, most were reversing via the centre platform, some did the long shunt though [about 2 I think]

I think it makes more sense to double end the trains and have them all do the long shunt... that way you can get trains in and out quicker and therefor run more trains. You don't even have to de-train to do the long shunt as its all signalled moves so technically they cud just have a quick check visually from platform staff to make sure everyone's off (lots of announcements approaching the stn) then just close and go

I didn't know it was possible to do a main line shunt on either line east of NOG - are trains being tipped out in the e/b road and shunted back past the flying junction into the center road? Or are they tipping out in the center road, doing the shunt on the w/b road and tipping in on the w/b?

the long shunt is accepting a green from the e/b platform to the next signal which is held at red. change end and signal with harbour lights takes you into the middle... the move is pretty similar for going from w/b platform to middle platform but I have only done E/B to middle

It's looking increasingly unlikely that the service will resume Monday morning. There's road/rail vehicles on the main line waiting to knock down the wall but the building has to be demolished first and it's looking like it's going to be a long job, apparently the main support girders are having to be cut off at ground level.

who pays for this disruption? The building's insurers?
How does PPP cope with disruption not caused by anything either LU or the infraco can do anything to prevent? It will obviously have an impact on the trains that can be run, delay minutes etc, which AIUI either LU or TubeLines normally has to pay the other for?

Good news, the wall has been demolished, the road railers are off site,so it looks like there will be a service tomorrow.Could still be delays due to stock imbalance,SMD is -10 trains!!!

For a main line shunt with no passengers? Does anyone have access to a diagram of NOG (TL)?

They managed to get 4 trains into SMD before COT.At the moment 4 trains cancelled no OK stock but there could be more delays as they've imposed a 15mph TSR between West Ham & the entrance to SMD.

Harbour lights? For a main line shunt with no passengers? Does anyone have access to a diagram of NOG (TL)? Yeah remember the JLE was signalled for bi-directional running. So there are running signals facing both directions on the EB and WB.. so when changing ends after shunting from the EB platform to the Limit of shunt, you have to get harbour lights to the left for the middle platform or a straight green would simply take you back where you came from

I know there is reasonable flexibility at places like NOG, however the line isn't bi-directional in the conventional sense. I am led to understand that bi-directional capability has been de-scoped from the resignalling. If so, this is a wasted opportunity.

Late at night trains running EB between West Ham & Stratford sometimes run via the WB line.Re harbour lights, the main line shunt outside SMD EB to WB is a colour light signal with Harbour lights.

Yeah the whole thing is bi-directional AFAIK (extension). Even on places where a train would NEVER run east-bound down the west-bound, there are coloured lights for it. I guess it would only be used for wrong directional move situations. Would be a whole lot easier for the driver to just change ends and go back under signalled conditions than the whole form procedure. But this isn't trained to the drivers as far as I remember. Oh anyway I mite be wrong about the whole thing... but all the main line shunts are with coloured lights and harbour lights, none are shunt signals. Also as towerman says when trains are leaving SFD platforms into the depot, say a train is leaving P 14 at SFD to the depot, usually the train arriving into SFD would have to wait outside at a red until the train was in the depot reception road. But it can get a green with harbour lights to the right and switch the the WB track going EB into SFD platform 15 whilst a train is leaving platform 14 going to depot

Alot of these moves drivers have not been trained to do. So how many of the drivers asked for pilot men on the front to advise on these moves. I hope all is well with the Jub now as I am booking back on tomorrow after the weekend off.

Yes T307, DMT and T/op despatched quickly to site.
T361 was instructed to reverse at London Bridge, to bridge the gap.
