Techs /drivers messing about presumably. I think it's funny. Serious looking calendar about our wonderful line and one pic puts tube reality into it. Great ;D

Someone has scratched some of the writing away and one part now reads (strangely) 'After passing a signal at danger expect to find' and the other bit says Do pass semi automatic signals at anger without authority. Authorised persons are low in this driving cab' - you can probably guess what the stickers were meant to say. Makes the picture that bit more lifelike!!!!! Yes, on the old doors of stock you could amend the warning notice to: "obstruct... the doors ... cause delays and ... be dangerous" And when I said 'you' I meant we 'one' could.

usually it ended up like obstruct... the doors causes delay and can... anger...us... True.
In the old slam door trains, especially the VEP units, 423xxx class, there was a sign which said TEST THE BRAKE... usually several were penned over and written several unmentionable words!

My favourite was on the 59's, some clever soul managed to produce the following with some careful scratching: Ostrich he do cause delay and can anger us There was always the delightful 'stuff nelly parker' instead of Tuffnell Park!

I remember on the old slammers, there were notices by doorways, asking people to 'Please give up your seat for a disabled person' - Loads of these were amended to 'Please eat a disabled person' ;D

Then of course there's the slightly easier option of replacing stickers with something which is only slightly different, thus:

Anything else known yet about the 38 stock? Is it running as a railtour or as one of those Mill Hill shuttles?

The 38ts was still in the depot when I was there on the 7th. I'm helping with a tour on the 24th, so might be able to get some more information then.

I'm at Ashfield house this week and our trainer had an email detailing the 38ts coming out to play. But the email did say that this may change.
I'm back at work on Sunday, so will do some more digging if needed.

The 38ts was in Ealing Common depot today having some maintenance carried out, namely the replacement of some of the neggie shoes. Got the opportunity to climb aboard and show my trainee round. Ok, so it isn't in the syllabus, but hey, it has to be done! ;D

It is still hoped that it will run again.

Last I heard, the impending decommissioning of the Cravens TRT will release a significant float of spare parts that will allow the other Cravens to operate again.

Were they suitably impressed? She was actually. I've got to admit though, the boarding of the 38ts was more for me and my interests. ;D

From the Friends newsletter which arrived today:
"Sunday 24th June. Centenary of Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway (Northern Line). It is hoped to operate specila (sic) trips with the 1938 tube stock. If this does happen, Friends will be mailed details seperately (sic)."
I suggest that anyone who isn't a member of the Friends might like to join. It looks like that note was added to the newsletter in a hurry.

Glad i joined the friends before Acton open day. I'd give anything for a ride on the 38. Takes me back to my youth. My life has been put on hold for the 24th June.

Hello, although I live in Devon I would dearly like to return to the smoke to attend the special Northern line celebration you have all been discussing. What do I need to do in order to attend?
Very best wishes
Hugh

For a normal meet, all you need to do is note where and when the meet is and turn up. You can of course arrange to meet someone beforehand or similar if you want. Whether this meet will be different depends on details that I suspect are not known at this point, but it might be you need to become a friend of London's Transport Museum. Unfortunately its looking like I wont be able to make it to London that weekend, so I may miss out Although there is a small chance of me being able to day-trip it from Poole although I wouldn't likely be able to arrive early or leave late, but if I can do it (which is by no means guaranteed) it would be better than nothing

The director of the museum spoke of wishing to return the 38 to regular service this evening. LU have apparently formed some kind of heritage group, which will also be looking after Sarah. They will deal with the paperwork mountains and other obstacles. Tim O'Toole is apparently also very supportive, and there's nothing quite like the word of god to get things moving. I was advised to contact the volunteer coordinator quickly if I want a free ride.
