'C' Stock was rubbish from the drawing board onward. They were designed in two days by a bunch of apprentice draughtsmen as the guy who was supposed to have designed them was allegedly sloshed for most of the time and incapable of so doing. That is quite a claim - one I hope is based on fact and not personal opinion. I'm sure I've read this before on another thread from the site - I will have a search! I've had a look, however I cannot find anything - I personally think its a statement made by a site member prior to Mr DD accidentally clicking the delete key early last year to the site threads, unless anyone is a better detective than myself

I can see the need for all these circuits needing to be ripped out and replaced by a newer system in around 15 to 20 years time as electronic components don't seem to age well, esp in an environment such as ours. Well, let's hope all electronics rot or breakdown sometime... imagine logging on to windows NT in 40 years... ;D

Lets hope that the C-stock designer's lawyers don't read Hindenburgs comments.

Personally I don't believe it had any factual base, and was just offered as part of an anti C stock rant.

the old atari 2600 great machine ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D hopefully not showing my age too much here Not too much. ;D I've still got one. I used to love freeway and for me an all time classic Kaboom. That one needed the paddle controller. My console is one of the earliest ones with difficulty control. Ok, so the C stocks ergonomics is pretty much none existant and the rheo isn't great, and theyre very rough round the edges but the westinghouse on them is fanbloomintastic!! All these things can be worked round with enough practise and effort, even if I still do get caught out by a snatching rheo occasionally. ;D I'll miss them when they're gone. They take a lot of care to drive well, but the end result is worth it.

If you have ever worked on A Stock or any of the older stocks, you will remember that all trains used to feel like that for braking, even using the e.p., except that the e.p. was more precise.

That is a bit of 'spin' if you ask me. Any commuter you ask is going to prefer a softer seat to a hard one Take a really independent survey by handing out leaflets/questionaires to the public at stations over a period of time and get some true answers. Not some market orientated stuff from a so-called independent firms who will rig the questions for the answers required. I don't do 'spin', I just give honest answers - which here were based on my personal opinion. Ultimately that is what it comes down to with seats, personal opinion. The 09ts seats are quite firm but not as firm as the 92's, that should suit a 30 minute end-to-end railway pretty well I would have thought. I can't say what the 'S' seats are going to be like as they don't exist yet, but for me I hope they are firm as I personally prefer a firmer seat. 'C' Stock was rubbish from the drawing board onward. They were designed in two days by a bunch of apprentice draughtsmen as the guy who was supposed to have designed them was allegedly sloshed for most of the time and incapabale of so doing. Allegedly sloshed, I love it! ;D Nice use of the word allegedly there, it covers a multitude of sins! Now that does sound like spin to me!! I'm going to start a hands off my 'C' stock campaign. My first order of business is to ensure that, post upgrade, all the 'A' stock get scrapped and only 'C' Stock get saved for the LTM Acton.

Well if the C stocks can make it to 50 years in service then they might be worthy of preservation! How confident are you, prjb?

I've never played with an A stock but I did play with 59's and 62's. The EP on those was fabulous. A proper self lapping EP with no rheo to get in the way.
