Have they run out of line maps at Neasden? On some (double ended) units some very old line maps have been put up in A stock trains to replace the East London Line maps! They even have the special fares zones (bring your passport!) section on them!

There was at least one car with a map like this running on the ELL on its final day.

I guess, with the new zones coming in very soon, they haven't printed more old ones!

So they have! They need to be changed! Also, when disabled access is added on line maps, rather than a cut out being applied with the station name a little round disabled dot should be placed over the old station 'tick'. It would be far neater and use less paper!

Or perhaps ditch the whole disabled thing and stop cluttering up the map!

Far better would be to just put a wheelchair symbol adjacent to the name, like the national rail symbol.

Its probably going to be the long term solution. I was surprised (I guess!) to see the Bakerloo only had two stations on it with lifts today!

Indeed. All of the newish line maps for the met are now misleading since the zones have changed.

On a purely selfish note, does anyone out there know if TfL Staff passes can now be used on the local buses within the newly numbered zones?

Let's hope we soon get to the position where "accessibility" is the default and we can get back to the simple ticks. I'm not sure how the Underground has avoided the disability discrimination legislation which has forced other businesses to comply!

Because the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) only requires "reasonable adjustment" to be made to existing buildings. The vast majority of stations were built long before the DDA arrived. The majority of stations that are accessible are that way because it was easier to build it that way, rather than any desire to make it accessible to disabled people.
As to what is "reasonable adjustment", you need to understand this is decided on a case-by-case basis. A large chain adding a ramp from the street to the shop door is almost certainly reasonable, requiring a small independent trader to do so may not be. Rebuilding a tube station is not reasonable, but making small adjustments where possible is. Because of the size of the system and the costs and complexities of making some of the adjustments (particularly if closures are required) means it is not reasonable to expect them to be done instantly. TfL seem to be taking the view that it is reasonable to make the adjustments as and when the individual station is refurbished - which seems sensible to me. I guess that when the current round of refurbishments is drawing to a close, we will start to see some bigger projects as finances and the availability of people to do the work, etc allow.

The costs of making the Central line at Bank accessible must be astronomical - you'd need to rebuild the entire platforms. Hence the 'reasonable' bit.
I do think it's OTT to have them on every map though. Why not have an 'Accessible Tube Map' freely avaliable, and scrap them from normal maps? It's just one of the extra bits of rubbish that's now on the maps... weekend closures etc.

No. Unless they are the TfL routes that run to Watford etc. The exception being if you were abiout in the days of London & Counrty and this is on your staff pass (and the routes accept them)

Tell rush hour commuters that they have to make space or they'll be chucked off! I'm sure they could design something that would allow a platform big enough to accomodate a wheelchair to remain horizontal when moving down an escalator, it's not beyond the realms of possibility... A bunch of Stana Stairlifts for the stairs can do the rest.

Nice! Was on unit 5065-6065-6064-5064 on the way home and saw there were still East London Line maps up. I was going to nick one, but realised that the train was stabling at Rickmansworth and this would leave a huge nasty gap for the morning (which we can't have!). Does anyone work at Neasden that could get me an ELL map (or has a spare one [as you do!])?

New Line maps have started appearing on A stock trains finally-although at a very slow rate-6 weeks is better late than never I guess...

They even have the special fares zones (bring your passport!) section on them! I saw some of these still up the other day (and I don't think it was on a double ended unit). I initially thought they might be the newer ones as they seem to be more in touch with the current situation than the more recent ones. I'll keep an eye out for these updated one metman has mentioned... Also spotted an East London Line sticker in one of the windows of an A-stock, guess it was missed when the rest of the unit was debranded.

Most of the double-enders have still got the 'METROPOLITAN LINE or EAST LONDON LINE' stickers in the windows. There is one single ender that has it too, for some random reason?

You would have though they would have introduced the zone changes with the overground interchanges that were recently added to all maps

remember the Met doesn't directly interchange with the Overground (although I had to double check!)...

I was on the Met on monday with Rich and there was still "Special Fares Apply" north of Moor Park never mind A-D zones! Maybe we'll see the whole fleet line maps replaced shortly before the S stock gets introduced (as they've have tons of them then?)?

So does the updated Met maps-thats what caught my eye-the bright orange thing!! When the double enders had their ELL maps removed they were given the old special fares apply maps as a temporary measure I imagine. Next problem, Pinner will be step free soon-another ugly cut out over the map

yes it seems like everytime they update the maps is not long before a crude mod is slapped over some station most of the time not even stuck straight. I find it strange how ISS have the job of changing the maps i know thats the case on the Vic line!

yes i have seen them go through whole cars changing the maps, also if you notice on the Vic line there are yellow engineering works stickers added to the bottom of the maps I have seen them do once rounds on them too.
