I see they've started fitting the A stock with LED tail lights, saw 5090 fitted with same tonight at King's Cross. Only just seen this thread..... Yes they started fitting them a while ago, after the success (?!) of the new LED tail lights on C stock. It also means they are not using the stabling light either......

Indeed. The failure rate of C stock tail lights used to be astronomical - LED's have eliminated the problem completely.
The stabling light still exist's................well sort of - it's officially the left hand tail light.

You still see the odd C stock without a tail light, no doubt caused by the mcb being knocked or as i've found on occasions a loose wire to the cluster. I must admit, they are infinitely better than the old incandescent bulbs.

Well, then they should have carried candle lamps ;D! Light with your lighter, or perhaps a match. Kindly do not burn down the whole Underground ;D.
