With the new electronic displays (which presumably are not space-limited like the old blinds) is it (or would it be) possible to display any station as a destination, to allow for odd workings during engineering and other periods of atypical operations?

On refurbished D stocks any station on the District line can be displayed (except Notting Hill - Edgware Rd). South Harrow and Rayners Lane are not available! ;D

What about Liverpool Street

Because it is on there, and If out of service, isnt a bad option to use, rather than special Keeping in mind its designed purpose, surely displaying a "red light" at the front is not a particularly good option. However, should you require a replacement tail light at the rear...

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

I don't think a red light on the front is a good idea in any form, also with modern LED's replacement tail lights are now not needed. Hence the removal of the stabling light on 'C'.

Whilst modern displays are less limited than a roller blind, we are still space limited on new builds. It is scary how much space is needed for sightlines and other equipment. We will not allow our front displays to scroll either.

I.e. the capacity (number of displays possible) on a roller blind is directly proportional to its size, but this should not be the case with electronic displays. If the number of possible destinations that could be programmed in, it would (I naiively assume) be limited by storage. Chris

Sorry, I didn't have my thinking head on! Yes your correct, the number of destinations which can be stored is far greater.

Are blinds actually made out of paper? I always thought they were some kind of rubber material but I've seen a couple on display which looked to be paper.

I think the stabling light should have been kept. We still get a fair few tail light failures on C stock (loose connections i guess). I must admit though, they are very good when illuminated. I'm not sure how they differ from those on 73ts but, our C stock tails are 100x better than theirs.

I *think* the blinds are made out of canvas or something
