Cheers Colin..I was well aware that it had stopped, and being nosey a few weeks back did some research into the reasons why. I never had the pleasure of travelling on one of the 'tunnel' RTs. Perhaps the oddest 'tunnel buses' were the (Ford) Thames Trader bicycle buses used in the Dartford Tunnel that I mentioned before: I suggest therefore that in the past LT were able to provide buses under the Thames, and now it's an impossibility. Very sad.

the Dartford crossing is used by buses though with Ensign running buses I think. The reason they aren't run under the Thames for the ELL is the size of the tunnel and the reason the 395 was withdrawn was because there was such a low patronage as the route was one of the only remaining minibus (breadvan!) routes.
The bicycle route also stopped because of low patronage.
