That's another one where I really think you might want to look at moving! Getting up at 3.30 to get to work by 7!

My (somewhat) daily commute unfortunately includes sitting on a wonderful smelly little PDL on route 491

My commute from September will be a 20 minute bus ride to the railway station, a 15-30 minute train ride down the line then a short walk....

Previously io used to get either the 120 or 427/607 from southall and make my way to northolt and either carry on up to harrow to get the train to rickmansworth or go via northwood hills, however that was typically about an hour and a half and i'd be screwed if i missed a connection. Shortly after i started riding motorbikes and reduced my journey time by a third!!! since then i have qualified at more cabins and have to langley in berks, sadly i got into my forth bike crash and the bike got written off so its car for me now from home to whichever cabins (12-14 miles)

Leave the house at 7:15 to get the 7:22 bus, only I wait much longer, finally, at 7:45 the bus comes, and I ask for a weekly and that bloke says; £9.30. You pay that with no right of complaint. On the first day, the gearbox had gone for a burton, second day it never came.
The buses are -ex TFL ones. When they first came about they were okay. Now, they leak, have a big smog coming out of the engine. Do the VOSA need DAF DB250s for dummies?

5 min walk to station. 11 min train journey (trains every 6-21mins with a very messy timetable). 13-17 min walk (depending on where I'm working).

Rise 06:30 - walk 45 minutes (with dog); walk up stairs to study - 30 seconds - sit at desk and log on to DD's forum - then work.

As I am under-employed at present, most of my "commuting" is to the library in town--six miles away from the room I am renting until my wife finds a job here in Starkville. Sundays, and some Wednesday nights, I also do a 20-mile round trip to church.

Ideally it is as follows: 8:30 - leave home; 8:45 - take a bus; 9:00 - get on the Metro; 9:30 - arrive at work (with the 30 minutes to spare). Normally, 1st part of the journey is increased by 5...15 minutes, 2nd part by 5...55 minutes ...

Times depend on which shifts I'm on, but it's basically a case of:-
Scootering to Farnborough station (or Woking during engineering works), followed by a 35 minute train ride to Waterloo (or 25ish minutes from Woking). Then, depending on my mood...
Take a stroll over to Blackfriars bridge to cross the river there, and onwards to the office near Farringdon, or 4 to Barbican / 172 to St Paul's / 341 or 521 to Holborn Circus / 26 or 76 to City Thameslink and walk to office
Plenty of options available for the latter part as you can see.
When returning home I normally just walk down to City Thameslink (Ludgate Hill entrance) and catch whichever Waterloo-bound bus comes first. Going to work they all depart from different stops so you have to make your mind up as to which bus you want in advance.
