IIRC Bob (Q8) had a few of these - if you search his posts some may still be lurking in the depths of the fourm.

There's reputedly a ghost at the old British Museum station... a colleague swears he saw a figure dressed in white standing where the platform used to be. Mind you, this was around Xmas.... I dunno whether or not to believe this story, but it's not the first time I've heard it mentioned....

Elephant and Castle and Shepherd's Bush are both meant to be haunted but I've never seen the Ghost.
In Stockholm we had a train of silver cars (C5s) which were rumoured to be a ghost train and took passengers to Kymlinge station which never opened. The saying goes "Bara de döda stiger av i Kymlinge".

Why do ghosts (if they exist anyway) always seem to be described as white or grey? In this world of technicolour, I think there should be a few blue, green, or purple ghosts.

theres also the case of the Tay Bridge shost train, which is rumoured to cross over the river where the original bridge used to be, and then the 'lights' on the ghost train are said to fall. One signalman on duty in Wormit Signalbox [south end of bridge] one December night, is said to have seen 'lights' fall off the bridge. He promptly closed the box and was never heard or seen again...

I heard screaming at Covent Garden, could still hear it when the doors opened at Russell Square, members here believe it was just train flange though.
Not a tube related story but never-the-less , when I was in Wales i was in a hotel that was built in the 19th century, still had the original wallpaper, of course it was a school trip and I shared a room with about 50 lads, me and my friend Chevy decided one day we wern't hungry and decided to go for a self-sight-seeing tour around the hotel/hostel. There was noone around as everyone was in the dining room having grub. The only staff on premises were at the reception desk, so we were walking up the strairs to the doors but the door was locked, just before we turned round we both saw a hooded figure walk pretty quickly too the dorms. We ran like hell, I can tell you that!
A few minutes later I found the password for the door and went into the dorm, I put my hand on the doorknob and I heard something that sounded like nails on a blackboard.
Some girls claimed a girl had feinted because she saw something in the converted stables (which were the girl dorms) Apart from lights going out in the middle of the night (including emergency lights) peoples stuff going missing and mass escapes from the room at 4:03AM (imagine this, a pitch black room, someone shouts and 50 lads trying to get out of 1 doorway, oh how the teachers shouted) that's all that happened.

Ickenham on the Met is supposed to be haunted. An elderly lady fell onto the track in 1952, and died. Her ghost is said to haunt the station.

Personally I won't believe in ghosts unless I see with one with my own eyes. It always seems to be those who have good imaginations who see ghosts!

I saw one, but was upset at the time, so maybe I imagined it.

Hmm, I think this post should be buried. Would one care to explain why one chooses to assert this?

Ickenham haunted? For 7 years I passed through there almost everyday for school, and Ive never seen anything; nor heard anything from the SS's and SA's, nor any other kids. Needless to say I feel a bit cheated now

www.underlondonground.co.uk/This website has not been updated for some time. The programme has actually been completed and should be broadcast in the next few months. It was previously scheduled for transmission in Autumn last year, but was pulled because of events.

Channel five were commissioning a series on ghosts on the tube, but it was due last summer so I assume they've dropped it. modified D'oh I should have read the previous post - you'll see the Hanger Lane episode then if it's aired
They went to Hanger Lane, on the request of a friend of mine. He had reported some very strange events there.
One night my friend was doing his final paperwork accounts when at 3am he heard a load knocking on the ticket office door. Now those doors are heavy and you normally have them a very firm kick to make a sound. He was startled as he was totally locked in. (Hanger Lane not being S12 was locked up using padlocks at all exits) he went to the door - nothing. He sat back down again and exactly the same thing happened.
This friend had also continually said that at about 3am he always heard the sound of running water, something I have personally witnessed, although Hanger Lane is int he middle of the roundabout, and except the employment agency above, no neighbours.
Anyway, when the Channel 5 people turned up, they did their investigation and uncovered a name of a ghost of they claimed was an ex-member of staff from the 50's. And guess what, thy got the name 100% correct. They also picked up on a rather nasty one-under that happened at Hanger Lane about 2 years previous and even described the person and where/ how they died. They also picked up on the sound of running water.......
Now while I agree that this information isn't impossible to locate, it certainly isn't easy and isn't on the internet.
Also, I can remember reading of an incident that happened at Regents Park a few years back.
The night turn station supervisor was doing their morning opening checks. They where on the platform doing the OPO tests - which involves looking into the drivers OPO monitor on the platform and counting the diamonds (or road cones placed on the diamonds) to check the cameras are covering the entire platform. As the S/S was doing this, he saw someone disappear into the tunnel heading back to Oxford Circus. The S/S was so sure of what he saw that he contacted the line controller and British Transport police and a track walk was undertaken between Oxford Circus & Regents Park. This resulted in the closure of the Bakerloo as a result. And I'm sure you can guess, nothing was found.
When the BTP interviewed the S/S the description he gave was EXACTLY the same as a person who had committed suicide at the station the previous day, even down to the cloths.
Ruislip Gardens has a history of ghosts, something to do with troops who use the station for Northolt aerodrome. Another friend and now a DMT on the purple line was once working at the Gardens when he told me that the fridge told him to 'GO AWAY', this was just after he started at Ruislip Gardens. I told him that it was probably his belly telling him to stop eating, but he is adamant that this is what happened, and he isn't the sort to make up stories.
Lastly my personal 'ghost story'.

I'm sure they just had good researchers, rather than good psychics! I don't disgree, but the researchers would need access to LU staff files and in this day & age of Data protection ? They had very good researchers and they surprised me with some of the facts that they dug up. LU gave their full co-operation for the purposes of filming, but they most certainly did not give access to any staff files; nor was any requested.
