Has any one seen google earth?
Shoeburyness reveals a plethora of old LU and NR stock.
But can i say how bloody amazed by this sofware i am.
I am just soo excited!!!
If anyone wants me to send them a KML file which has the data of where these trains are PM me, or if the mods dont mind i'll post them.
This is truly a brilliant bit of software.

Okay. I do have a couple of screenshots that are posted tinypic.com/jfz283.jpgand tinypic.com/jfz2m8.jpgThese images show the actual trains in Situ. Pretty cool for an application that is free. So now we can have a nice debate about what they are! Mod comment: Folks, Whilst these images contain only trains, please keep in mind that these trains are stored within a Ministry of Defence location. As such, the staff of this forum cannot actively encourage any further images being posted. This will keep us out of trouble, so thanks in advance for your co-operation. Colin.

Lots of 59/62ts, some 72mk1ts, and AFAIK, amongst others, the Cl 117 that was given to WSR and is now being taken back!
Twas a few years ago though.
AND, since Google Earth is a free download, there is no need for the tinypic links: download for free (we have advertised it here before) and zoom in on the right part of the landscape!
(use the search facility if you want the link)

It doesn't. Told you it was old! Anyway, being the season of goodwill, here's the link to the free download earth.google.com/

OOC has a turntable!
Anyway if the MoD had a problem, they would have asked Google to blank out the images, rather like they did for some American locations. You'd have certainly heard about it if they'd had any objections by now.

I've got a map of the area around Andover and Salisbury, and theres this swathe of white on the map with MOD Ludgershall printed inside that white space. The thing is though, you can see where and how to get to it, because the roads simply 'end' where the white starts. the map is from around 1976, has a Copyright stamp of 1978, but indicates survey was undertaken in 1974 with updates in 1976. There were some excellent aerial shots of Shoeburyness [called Piggs Bay] in an issue of Railway Magazine a few years back. At least 4 pages of shots. Lots of LU Trains to be seen.

I have some Army Maps from when i was in the CCF at school.
Proper british forces maps are really cool. They have much more interesting things on them, such as power lines in a nice shade of Purple.
I Particularly like the map i have of dartmoore, you have no idea some of the stuff that is hidden there.
