Had a nice long ride around the Metro the other day with Compsci. Very enjoyable but I did notice that LUL is not the only one with an 'Amazon' on the track. West Monkseaton and the north side of the loop are especially bad. Reminded me of one of those documentaries you se on TV of trains chugging along through waist high grass. I know companies like to save money but not when cash overcomes common sense surely.

I am orgainising a trip on the metro- see the seperate board on this forum.
But actaully idon't find it bad, on the whole any growth is away from the track, and it doesn't look bad from the train. The different jungles, those of concrete, come to mind for me, becuase of some of those awful concrete suburban stations.

The photos I took before my camera ran out of batteries can be found here. They're mainly of the Sunderland branch, although I did manage to revive the camera for a couple at South Gosforth and beyond. The growth looked rather extreme viewed from the front passenger seat, with plenty between the rails and in the four foot. A little weedkiller wouldn't go amiss.

You conveniently seem to have photos of pretty much everything I would have taken had my fully charged batteries not managed to short out in my pocket.
Can I suggest that you install gallery or similar, as directory listings are a bit of a pain to navigate.

If it is something that any user can install (I don't have any admin rights on the server) then give me a link. I keep meaning to set-up something as I have probably int he order of a thousand photos juist in directories and no time to write the nice indexing pages I used to (e.g. sucs.org/~cmckenna/photos/llanilltud_fawr/index.html). Ah Chris, you've succeeded in making me thoroughly homesick! Hope you don't mind, but I've saved a few of those pics to my own PC (obviously not for re-distribution etc!)

Keeping copies of the photos is fine - as long as you don't sell them or try to claim them as you're own I don't mind what you do with them.

I couldn't pass them off as my own even if I wanted to... Everyone knows what a rubbish photographer I am! ;D Seriously though, they're strictly to remind me of home!

Leaving the north for the south? Why do they do it?

'Cos it seems to be the way to survive. But they regret it afterward (Don't mention Maguires to AlanL) ;D ;D
