It was suggested by someone last Sat that it might be an idea to make the next meet the Saturday of the open weekend at Acton museum, which is 22nd October, date and place specified, time and other arrangements TBA. What are the initial thoughts on this?

Sounds like an excellent plan to me I think Q8 would be in his element in the Q38's just as he was in the Q23 in Convent Garden on Saturday morning.... (photos may be posted pending Q8's permission) I may invite my g'friend to join us just to see how sad we all look as we all wonder around the museum... ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think it's a great idea to bring disintrested girls round museums, for you are the most intresting thing in sight and all their attention is upon yourself!

The Acton Museum open weekend is a great idea! Unfortunately, I'm on leave covers that week, so I don't know what I'm working until nearer the time, but hopefully I'll be able to swap duties again!

Rather than modify my original post (because no-one will notice) let me add a bit here Firstly - credit where it's due- I have been reminded that it was trainopd78 who made the suggestion for the meet (but it was through something of a beer haze..... ) Secondly it is a family open day. I'm just wondering if we could get reduced admission coz we are all part of DD's forum family: lots of brothers, nephews and cousins (but no sisters and no daughters ) Thirdly there seems to be quite a positive response so far- well done d78.

Me has just had one of my crazy ideas. If I can't get down in October then perhaps we could have a meet sometime at the NRM in York. There's lots to do and see and as far as I am aware it's accesible from most parts of the country and you can get cheap fares too.
OK, OK It's only an idea
Dunno wether there will be Yorkshire tea though?

I'm always up for a trip to the NRM, indeed istr there was a thread extolling its attractions not long back.
As for the presence or abscence of Yorkshire tea, as someone who doesn't drink hot drinks* I'm not in a position to comment.
Chris
*Except about 3 or 4 at most cups of hot chocolate a year, and even then I can't drink them until they're luke warm.

I thought Shildon might be a good idea. I haven't been yet, and I imagine less people have been to Locomotion than have been to the NRM 'proper'. Naturally I'll settle for either though.

Well i've checked my duties and i'll definately be there in one form or another. I'm currently starting at 19.15 on Sat with rest on Sunday, but being a short turn i'm hoping I should be able to get rid. Failing that i'll definately be there til half 6 so it'll still be pretty much a full day.

If the Next Meet Up is entering the plannign stages, could one possibly make it between 7th and 25th October, as this is when I have A/L. Taa very muchly.
I am sort of recovered from my illness. I have no idea what it was, but my doc dis lots of tests and took many samples, and not just blood either. Just gotta convince them at LUOH I am okay to get back on the handle. I'd hate to be dipped. Thanks guys for all your messages of quick recovery etc.

Just had a letter this morning from the hospital regardng the weekend of 22 October. I shall be unable to come down after all as I shall be in "Der Krankenhaus" to have my periodic draining of my sinus's. It's no big deal just a routine thing about every two years or so.
It has to be done surgically as I, unlike you guys. cannot sneeze and clear my head that way hence the weekend inside. I need to have it done as at present I am in some pain from sinusitis and pressure at the top of my nose.
I shall hopefully be down next year at the end of March to see my Mum as she always likes to see me on my birthday. I am disappointed but there you go.

Yes I am up for this, although I am unavailable most Saturdays.
I would advise deciding a date soon to get those cheap GNER (or Virgin) tickets, they're already on sale for GNER until the end of November and the £9.50 (single) fares go quickly!
