Photos at yorkie.fotopic.net/c712218.htmlWith apologies to Q8 & Compsci - I'd have let you know we were going to Newcastle but it was only arranged at very short notice! We didn't stay at Newcastle for long, though. Next weekend is the last week of diversions.

Thank you Yorkie for those photo's. Never mind about not telling me about your visit. I live there and see a lot of it anyway and I 'd have probably got in your way too. However in this picture you can see a metal grid on the four foot. Is this a kind of impedance bond? yorkie.fotopic.net/p21004708.html

Bob, That's actually a TPWS loop (Train Protection and Warning System), introduced [almost] network-wide after Ladbroke Grove. It's basically a system to prevent or at least mitigate SPADs (depending on the speed of the train at the time). It's not perfect, but it's better than nowt! (PS - Sorry for answering the question when it was aimed at Yorkie!) (PPS - Nice Pics, Yorkie! I remember when they had diversions a few years back, my wife almost fainted when we were waiting at Prudhoe level crossing and an HST passed!!)
