Does anyone know of any online cab videos from the cab of a 92TS? There were some on a site a few years ago but the site seems to have gone.

It had entry/exit from quite a few stations, but I think the site closed ages ago. I certainly can't find it. Looks like I might be getting that Studio 225 vid........

That's fantastic!!!! I could watch them for hours!!!!! The Woodford - Leytonstone is great....at Snaresbrook you get a full length DVA, a ATP 'target down' chime and of course, the countdown. Brilliant!!!

And that was before I watched all the others.........these vids are really fantastic, and anyone who hasn't been in the front of a 92 should have a butchers......with the chimes and their immense acceleration/deceleration they are quite unlike other LU trains.
Best one for sounds I've found so far is the Sth Woodford to Loughton 06:55" vid at Buckhurst Hill...DVA..radio confidence tone..countdown and target up.....thrilling.

Does anyone on the forum know Clavman 92 personally? I was wondering if the above clip was filmed recently, as it features the original Janet Mayo DVA, which I haven't actually heard in real life - I'd like to have a ride on this unit if it's still running about with the original announcements.
EDIT: This must be on old clip, as it's being driven in Coded Manual in the tunnel section between Newbury Park and Leytonstone

The doorbell sound is the countdown chime, when a train is meant to leave a station, and the three notes every now and again are the ATP code chimes - when it does high to low the target speed has decreased, and when low to high the target speed has increased.

reminding me of how much I miss the old announcements , IMO they sound more 'modern' than the current ones EDIT: by the look of the chav at Barkingside it looks pretty new ;D EDIT 2: Looks like they are on ATO cos of the two trains at N/Park being so close together. EDIT 3: Another reason that its pretty new is the ***STAND BACK TRAIN APPROACHING*** messages at stations. EDIT 4: It was added 1 week ago.

I must admit, as much as I love Emma Clarke (seriously) the Janet Mayo ones are really nicely spoken, as said I wouldn't mind a ride in a train with the old announcements to see how they compare in real life.

Is Emma Clarke the one on the video, if so, there are some photos of her at Ashfield House (the Training Centre) on the 1st floor.

This video is Janet Mayo (same one as earlier)
This is an example of Emma Clarke - one big difference is that the old one ends with "This train terminates at......", while the wording of the new one is "This is a Central Line train to....."

on the subject of announcements, are the central line trains meant to say the destination at the station and as they leave?

No, meant to be in the stations, but sometimes the anno kicks in late, or the T/Op ignores the countdown. Notice that if the doors are re-opened, the anno plays in full again! and sometimes repeats the destination two/three times! Annoying, yes.

Ah Janet, i've still got some announcements of hers recorded. I much preferred the old girl to Emma, janet started speaking then was done in seconds, Emma has to constantly say the announcement along with mind the gap at a reduced speed.

SLightly off topic, can you change the volume of the announcements. It's a bit annoying when sometimes the announcements are so loud the speakers are flapping, or when the volume changes, "This is a central line train to louGHTON!!!!!"
My Ears hurt!!!

No, I am sorry, the volume cannot be altered. The reason for the higher volume above a certain speed, is due to the perceived increase in acoustic noise, generated from the track and/or surronding tunnel. It's automatic, and kicks in around 10-12 mph [16-20 km/h] I suppose we *could* be nice and turn it off completely, but then we'd get the finger waved at us for not providing information...

and thats the reason why train O/P's don't reopen the doors very often on the Central ;D Had a Central t/op reopen twice the other day when it was really optional! ;D These cab videos are awesome - and it's rather sad I can recognise the sound of the track from Liverpool Street -> Bethnal Green! Smooth initially then rough, another smooth patch in the middle, then rough all the way to Bethnal Green!

Had the reverse happen running into Stratford this morning: "THE NEXT STATION IS STRATFORD. PLEASE CHANGE HERE FOR ... [inaudible]"
