A couple of weeks ago at ~ 21:00pm I arrived at Hammersmith to find that the district line platform westbound was occupied by a Piccadilly line train. There was no train at the Piccadilly line platform.
I've only ever seen this once before, and that was, similarly, a Pic line train at the district platform, but in that case it was eastbound.
Does anyone have any idea why this might happen?

It is now not possible for an eastbound PICC to run local line from Acton Town to Hammersmith (pfm.4) (the westbound points are to be removed too)
