Lovely pictures there Chris. But I often wonder if you ever go to bed?

Really excellent photos Chris.
I love being about early in the morning, when I was on the buses I used to love the 0415 start duty, especially on a Saturday when no cattle were out. S'pose thats why I'm a postman again, I've done early starts all my working life.

Some very nice photos, Chris!
I really liked the mood of the Wapping one. And it is fascinating to see a very busy place, such as a tube station, completely empty of people, knowing that in just a few minute, it will be absolutely packed with people.-

Great stuff Chris. For me, the novelty of seeing Nf early in the morning has completely worn off now, as you can imagine , none the less, 'tis a very nice pic if I may say so.

Enjoyed those, Chris. My fave was the Barons Court one, but then I'm a sucker for District canopies. Talking of which, what is the function of the inverted trough above the tracks in your Canada Water pic*? Russ * chrisjolly.sphosting.com/CanadaWater_ELL.jpg

You see the difference in this photo of the cold white glare of the fluorescent tubes and the warm friendly ambience of the lanterns over the platform? Would that more stations had the latter type of light. Even more nice would be for train interior lights could be on a 'bulb' type basis. chrisjolly.sphosting.com/Whitechapel_ELL.jpg

Excellent pics, Chris! I've often wondered what Earl's Court looked like early in the morning! I'm usually just going to bed at that time of the day! ;D (I've only recently found out that there are actually 2 eight o'clocks in the day!!! ;D)

Excellent pics, Chris! I've often wondered what Earl's Court looked like early in the morning! Ironically I was driving the first eastbound train that day, and as the norm at 05.10 there was a lot more people waiting there than at 06.00. The first train is usually pretty busy.

Those pictures tell the story of why I love earlies. No grief. Those who are travelling are either just going home to bed or going to work. Every passenger has a purpose and just wants to get to their destination asap without any stalling or causing trouble. All of the troublemakers are usually tucked up in bed. Ok, the day does obviously get busier, but the morning peak is friendlier than the evening peak, and the biggest bonus of all, the job hasn't had a chance to go wrong yet. ;D

I'm in full agreement with Trainopd78. That's why I try to stick with earlies all the time with my "leave cover" trick. If there's a job that starts at 4 am and another at 10 am, I'll pick the 4 am every time.
Definite worst time to operate is on a Friday or Saturday night after 7 pm. School kids have nothing on club hoppers.
