The latest addition to my collection of LU models is the old Ever Ready tube train, produced by the battery manufacturer around 1952. In appearance it seems closest to the Waterloo and City 1940 stock, but in London Transport red livery. It looks okay from this side but has quite a bit of damage to the paintwork, and the battery-powered controller was long gone - which is fine, as I got it at a bargain price compared with a mint version. The other reason for the bargain price is that the other side of the power bogie has split apart owing to mazak rot, and many of the trailing wheels are disintegrating. Given it's hardly mint, I'm wondering what would need to be done to make it operational on a modern OO model railway. Certainly a new power bogie would be required, perhaps a Spud or similar, with new cosmetic side frames. New trailing wheels would also be needed, ideally fitting into the existing tinplate bogie frames. Does anyone have any experience of attempting this?

I don’t have any experience with this but you could probably get a chassis from Metromodels and bogies from Radley models and make your own chassis.
Good luck

Yes and paint it in a BR livery - indeed even do each of the cars in a different livery to represent the liveries they wore in real life - Southern Railway, BR green, BR blue, BR NSE toothpaste!

You could make a fair representation of a Bulleid 'Leader' from that!
