as a former Godhelmian, the usual mispronunciation is G'dalming (stress on the 2nd syllable).
My favourite was a north American (can't remember if they were US or Canadian) friend of a friend getting horribly lost on the way over and announcing they were at High Wye Combey. This turned out disappointingly to be High Wycombe

I recall Dave Gorman, of TV fame, saying how at ? Hackney Wick station, there's a sign to alight for Loughborough University London. Upon being asked how to pronounce it by tourists, he announced "Low-brow"!

I remember being behind a French bloke in the queue for the ticket office at Leicester Square.
"I want to hibernate" turned out to be a request for a ticket to High Barnet,

Dunno what you lot are worrying about. Just across the hill from me is Dwygyfylchi (and no I haven't just fallen on the keyboard!) I have a stab at how I would pronounce that, then looked it up on Wikipedia. I had the final y as /ɪ/ instead of /ə/ but was otherwise correct, so not that difficult! |
