Can anyone explain why Rayners Lane to Uxbridge is closed for the bank holiday weekend?

Why can't Ruislip siding be used to reverse the service west of Rayners Lane ?

Probably because the final bullet point will require Rayners Lane signal box to be closed.

Does that mean that points around Rayners Lane will be handworked for reversing Met and Piccadilly trains?

Probably because the final bullet point will require Rayners Lane signal box to be closed. The Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines service will be reversed at Rayners Lane, the box will be open.

Does that mean that points around Rayners Lane will be handworked for reversing Met and Piccadilly trains? No the points will be worked as normal, it’s the points at Uxbridge that are being removed. Uxbridge Interlocking Machine Room (IMR) is controlled from Rayners Lane signal cabin .

Ruislip siding and junction is probably required for engineering trains during the possession.

orienteer , based on what Dstock7080 has provided, Uxbridge sidings has gone from this (up to 2018): To this (post August 2019): DISCLAIMER: Several liquids were consumed in the process of editing this diagram and as such has been classified as botched.

You have one too many sidings; 36 road (third from top) was removed as part of the S8 enabling works many moons ago.

goldenarrow - that is a very, very good effort: I think you’d only see such a level of interest and detail here. Very well done! 👏🏻 However, in the interests of healthy competition I thought I’d have a go, to put my own unique slant on it, after all, no one wants one person getting all the glory. I can confirm that no liquid drinks were consumed making this.

Yesterday, I found a ton of blank track and signal diagrams on some memory sticks. I must have just copied over one of those and then filled in the gaps that have changed in the last 20 years.

Ruislip siding and junction is probably required for engineering trains during the possession. Since my previous post I have found out the siding at Ruislip is required for the movement of Engineers Trains. At Rayners Lane, Piccadilly Line trains will reverse via the siding. Metropolitan Line trains will reverse off platform number 1 .

Interesting frequency this weekend, journey planner is showing that the Piccadilly will for once get the more frequent service (every 10 mins) whilst the Metropolitan has a lop sided interval with alternate 10 and 20 minute headways.

It’s a shame the Piccadilly cannot be reversed off the wrong road platform exclusively leaving the Met from the ‘usual’ platform via the siding. I guess a 15 mins frequency on the Met with every other train reversing at Harrow may have allowed the Piccadilly time to arrive and reverse once the Met had cleared the westbound platform?

Sullivan Buses will be providing the railway replacement service from Rayners Lane to Uxbridge. I'm late standby at Rayners Lane I think!

Pleased to say the Sullivan Buses seemed to work remarkably well most of the time; there was a bit of overcrowding at times with passengers left behind at Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. It was well used.

Know it’s a bit behind the time but I’ve been away so hadn’t seen this before now.
The reason nothing was running west of Rayner’s Lane was because there was a separate worksite in the area of Ruislip Manor with various maintenance taking place here such as scrap clearance and conductor rail works.

And closed again this weekend (7/8th Sept). Since Rayners Lane is out of use I guess that's where the work is taking place.

Click hereThat was absolutely fascinating - thank you. Is this the fist place they’ll be installed on a passenger line as opposed to within a depot-type training facility?
