Certainly does, the ring of an extremely unpleasant and painful medical procedure. Iām not in favour......š We all know how much you love names which are a portmanteau of each end of a certain line . . . š My benevolence in this early phase of my Administrationship forgives you your trespasses.......šš

I thought the survey did not close until Sunday You're quite right, I left the link open but forgot to update the original post. Still there and will link the pie chart so it to will update live. Are you sure the pie charts will update live? I've just submitted a set of names and they're not showing on the pie chart yet.

Some of these had me trying so hard to hold my laughter in on the train home! 'Tony' for one and my personal favourite 'The Watford Whizz'! I love this forum! Inventive names are a great source of amusement and respect (for imagination and quirkiness). Probably my favourite, over all the sites I've ever visited (although only really meaningful on a railway thread), is 'NorbitonFlyer'. Second (from I don't know where) is 'WooHooKitty'. Unfortunately, when I tried to look at the survey, all I got was 'this survey is closed', but, looking at the names mentioned here, I can see they are a cut above 'Boaty McBoatFace'.

I've just submitted a set of names and they're not showing on the pie chart yet. I think we have reached the limit at which the feed updates the pie charts without me manually adding the range for new options since every new option is likely to have been typed differently. If that is indeed the case, I will update the whole lot on Sunday when the survey closes. Still, I'm sure certain esteemed members will be flattered to learn that they have made the list...

Probably my favourite, over all the sites I've ever visited (although only really meaningful on a railway thread), is 'NorbitonFlyer'. I'm flattered. I did think of suggesting the "WatEus Line" as a name for the ex-LNWR route, but settled instead for the geographically- and historically-relevant "NorthWest Line"

Not railway related, buy my favourite is a friend-of-a-friend on Facebook who went by the name of "Beth is Inevitable". Whether they're the same person you are thinking of or not I don't know, but there is a Woohookitty on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Woohookitty

I thought the idea of naming the Watford DC line 'Bakerloo' was a joke at first but now I'm not so sure, so I'm curious to know š
I can see a certain logic, bearing in mind how much is shared (I'm only thinking about branding--not sending 72 stock to Euston) but I'm not sure what the pros and cons are with this sort of thing. Is it simpler for passengers if there are fewer lines (and literally fewer lines on the map, in this case) or do we prefer to reduce the number of branches (again assuming no operational differences)--e.g. logically separating the Northern line?

It did run under the name 'Harlequin Line' for a year or two, from Harlesden & Queens Park . I believe that's what gave rise to the name of the shopping centre which was decided by public competition in the early 90s.

I believe that's what gave rise to the name of the shopping centre which was decided by public competition in the early 90s. I remember this... I feel sure that it a Network SouthEast initiative / publicity gimmick to increase the profile and hence passenger numbers on the North London dc routes. The name 'Harlequin' was chosen to reflect the service - in essence it was a way of telling management what the passengers thought of the so-called 'service'. A bad joke. The name did not last long!

What would be your preferred name for the Romford to Upminster route? "Guided Busway" I've mulling this for several days - no it was not me who thought of a kerb guided busway - I can see where the person was coming from, as several of the guided busways here in the UK include stretches of route that were once railway and some of the trains that ran along one of them (Luton - Dunstable) quite possibly even travelled on the Metropolitan (Railway's) Widened Lines to Moorgate. Anyway, with 'guided busway' in mind my thoughts turn to 'Romford Tram-Train' (which would suggest an even happier outcome) or 'Romford Trail cycleway' which would have suggested a 'worst case scenario' similar to the Northern Line - Parkland walkway.
