Was trundling about East London yesterday and caught the District in and out, changing at Mile End - which the automated announcements missed the initial M off both ways. anyone else noticed that?

Is this about the on train announcements on S stock, or on station announcements? Analysing the on train audio files, they seem OK.

Would this have been on an 'Istrict Line' train service

Sometimes the speakers can stutter, fragmentise or muffle announcements on the S stock, I certainly remember in the early days of the S8's when it was nigh impossible to hear a drivers announcement. Slightly off topic here but I'm convinced that I can hear the 's' in Kew Gardens it just gets muffled out by tuning of the the speakers.

It was on the train. It felt like a speaker issue, but auto announcements do have their moments. (wildly off-topic, but the one at Guildford in the 90s used have some very strangulated posh vowels and used announce trains to Gatwick Earport...)

I rode an S7 through Mile End today and the enunciation of Mile End seemed fine, so maybe the OP experienced a train or trains with a problem.
The 't' in Whitechapel isn't that noticeable though...
